Storing Your TubUpdated 10 hours ago

Draining properly and storing your tub correctly protects it between uses, prevents mould and freeze damage, and keeps inflatable models lasting longer. This guide covers draining every tub in the range, plus how to store the portable models when they're not in use.

At a glance: draining and storage by model

Step-by-step

Draining your tub

  1. Power off the chiller at the wall before you start.
  2. Open the drain valve at the base and allow the tub to empty fully.
  3. For faster drainage on larger units (Pro, Barrel, and chiller-paired tubs): run the chiller pump, disconnect the outlet hose, and direct it to your drain point.
  4. Once empty, wipe down the interior.

Drying and storing an inflatable tub (Pod, Pro, Barrel)

  1. Drain fully, then dry the interior thoroughly as any moisture trapped inside can cause mould.
  2. Once completely dry, deflate the tub.
  3. Fold carefully and store in the carry bag.
  4. Keep the repair kit stored with the carry bag so it's always on hand.

Storing a fixed tub (Arctic, Acrylic, Cedar)

These models stay in place rather than being packed away. Between uses:

  1. Keep the insulated or thermal-shield lid on to keep debris out and hold temperature.
  2. For Cedar, wipe the stainless steel liner dry after draining.
  3. If you won't be using it for an extended period, drain it fully (see freeze warning below).

Before freezing temperatures

⚠️ Important for cold climates and winter storage. Water left in a tub or chiller can freeze and expand, causing serious damage that may not be covered under warranty. Before any extended storage, or if temperatures may drop below 32°F (0°C):

  1. Power off the chiller and drain the tub fully.
  2. Open the chiller's drain outlet and empty all water from the unit.
  3. Disconnect and drain the hoses.
  4. Store the unit dry.

Signs something's off

  • A musty smell on an inflatable tub — moisture was trapped before packing; air it out fully and dry before re-storing
  • Water pooling or slow draining — check the drain valve is fully open and the hose isn't kinked
  • Visible mould — the interior wasn't fully dry before storage; clean and dry thoroughly before next use

If draining is unusually slow or the pump struggles to clear water, check your filter see Filter Maintenance Full Guide.

Tips & extras

  • Always dry an inflatable tub completely before deflating. This single step prevents the most common storage problem being mould.
  • Position your tub near a drainage point from the start, so emptying is never a hassle.
  • For freeze prevention, draining the chiller is just as important as draining the tub; trapped water in the unit is the part most likely to be damaged.
  • Keep your repair kit and carry bag together so an inflatable is always ready to pack down or patch.
