Meet Our Ice Bath Pod, Pro & BarrelUpdated an hour ago
Product Overview
The portable range is where most people start. All three tubs are inflatable, tool-free, and compatible with any Vital+ chiller, making them as easy to set up in a backyard as they are in a spare room. Whether you're just getting started or want a plunge that travels with you, you're covered.
Choosing Your Model
All three set up without tools and pair with any compatible Vital+ chiller. The differences come down to size, structure, and how you plan to use it.

Setup
All three follow the same core process. A few steps differ by model (noted below where relevant).
- Choose a flat, stable, waterproof surface indoors or outdoors.
- Avoid direct sunlight where possible, particularly for longer sessions.
- Unpack and unfold the tub fully before inflating.
- Inflate using the included pump until the walls are firm and hold their shape.
- The Pro will feel noticeably rigid when fully inflated. This is normal for drop-stitch construction. Do not over-inflate (a max of 10psi is recommended).
- Ensure all valve pins are in the raised, closed position after inflating (Pod and Pro only).
- Check the drain valve at the base is fully closed before filling (Barrel only).
- Check the drain plug at the base is securely closed before filling (Pod only).
- Connect chiller hoses to the IN and OUT fittings before adding water.
- Fill to 5–7cm below the top rim.
- Ensure water level is above the chiller intake height before switching the chiller on.
- Set your target temperature via the Tuya Smart App.
Manual cooling (no chiller)
- Add approximately 10–15kg of ice for manual cooling. Top up as needed to maintain temperature.
For full installation guidance, see our Installation section here.
Your First Session
- These tubs are designed to get you in the water fast.
- The setup is simple, and cold water immersion gets easier with consistency.
Before you get in
- A good starting point is 55–60°F (13–15°C).
- The benefits kick in well before the coldest setting.
- Give the chiller time to reach your target temperature before getting in.
- Starting temperature and water volume both affect how long this takes.
- Have a towel and a warm layer ready for immediately after your session.
In the water
- Start with 2–3 minutes. Build to 5–10 as your body adapts.
- The first 30 seconds are the hardest.
- Slow, controlled exhales help your nervous system settle into the cold rather than fight it.
- Focus on your breath rather than the temperature.
- Keep your hands submerged where possible. You lose a significant amount of heat through your hands, and keeping them in makes the session more effective.
- If you feel dizzy, short of breath, or unwell at any point, exit the water calmly and warm up gradually.
After your session
- Let your body rewarm naturally before jumping into a hot shower. The rewarming process is where a significant portion of the metabolic benefit happens.
- If you have a SaunaPod or XEN, contrast therapy (moving between cold and heat) is one of the most effective recovery protocols you can build at home.
Draining
Pod and Pro:
- Open the drain plug at the base and direct water to a suitable drain point.
- For faster drainage on the Pro, disconnect the chiller outlet hose and use it to direct water flow.
Barrel:
- Open the drain valve at the base.
- For faster drainage, run the chiller pump, disconnect the outlet hose, and direct it to your drain point.
Care & Maintenance
Inflatable tubs are low-maintenance but some regular habits go a long way.
After every session
- Rinse the interior with clean water after each use.
- Wipe the exterior dry before storing or deflating. Moisture trapped against the PVC over time can cause deterioration.
- Leave the lid off or open for 15–20 minutes after use to allow air circulation and prevent moisture buildup inside.
Ongoing
- Keep the tub out of prolonged direct sunlight when not in use.
- UV exposure degrades PVC over time.
- Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners, or solvent-based products on the tub interior or exterior.
- For mineral buildup: diluted white vinegar (1:4 with water) on a soft cloth, rinse thoroughly.
- Do not place sharp objects near or inside the tub.
- Inspect the seams and valve areas periodically for signs of wear or slow deflation.
Deflated storage
- Fold loosely rather than rolling tightly to avoid stress on the seams over time.
- Store in the carry bag in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Do not store heavy items on top of the folded tub.
- Ensure the tub is completely dry before deflating and folding as storing damp accelerates mould and material degradation.
If you get a puncture
- Use the included repair kit for small holes or tears.
- Clean and dry the area thoroughly before applying the patch and allow full cure time before refilling.
- For larger damage or seam failures, contact support before attempting a repair.
Winter and cold weather
- If temperatures drop below 32°F (0°C), do not leave water sitting in the tub.
- Drain fully before freezing conditions arrive.
- If using a chiller, keep it circulating in cold weather to prevent frozen lines. If ambient temperature drops below 34˚F (1°C), disconnect pipes and fully drain the chiller to prevent freeze damage.
- Store the deflated tub indoors during extended cold periods.
