Setup
Assembly is tool-free and takes around 30 minutes. Here's a quick overview before you get started.
- Choose your location.
- The XEN is indoor only and needs a flat, level surface with enough clearance to open the door fully.
- Lay out all panels and confirm everything from the In the box list is present before you begin.
- Snap the wall and roof panels together following the assembly guide (no tools required).
- Connect the infrared heating panels and red light panel to the control unit as indicated.
- Plug into a standard household outlet (110V).
- Power on and allow 20–30 minutes for the cabin to reach your target temperature.
- You must do this before your first session.
For full installation guidance, see our Installation section here.
Your First Session
- The XEN heats up in 20–30 minutes depending on your ambient room temperature.
- A good starting point is 140–150°F (60–65˚C) you don't need to push straight to the maximum.
A few things worth knowing early on:
- Enter a few degrees below your target temperature. Letting the heat build around you is more effective (and more comfortable!) than stepping into maximum heat.
- Keep your first sessions to 20–30 minutes while your body adjusts. You can build from there.
- Use the Red Light panel during your session, not just before or after. The dual wavelength works best with sustained exposure.
- Chromotherapy is worth experimenting with. Blue and cooler tones are well suited to evening sessions; warmer tones work well for morning or pre-workout use.
- The XEN produces a genuine sweat so go in well hydrated and rehydrate immediately after.
- Evening sessions are particularly effective for sleep. The post-session core temperature drop is what triggers melatonin release. Give yourself 30–60 minutes between finishing and going to bed.
Care & Maintenance
After every session
- Leave the door open for 15–20 minutes after use to air out the cabin and prevent moisture buildup.
- Wipe down the glass door with a soft microfibre cloth if needed.
- Place a towel on the bench during each session to protect the cedar. This is the single most important habit for long-term care.
Monthly
- Vacuum the interior to clear cedar dust and fibre buildup.
- Clean the glass door thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth only.
- Avoid abrasives, scrapers, or chemical sprays.
- Use Sauna Timber Specific cleaners.
Quarterly
- Keep ventilation areas around the unit clear.
- Check nothing has accumulated around the base or panels.
- Inspect all power cables and connections for visible damage, cracking, or looseness. If anything looks off, stop use and contact support before the next session.
General
- Never place liquids, essential oils, or sprays inside the cabin.
- Keep ventilation areas clear at all times.
Seasonal Storage
- If storing for an extended period, run one final session before packing down to fully dry the interior and prevent moisture retention in the cedar panels.
- Disassemble panels carefully and store flat or upright. Never stack heavy items on top of the panels as this can warp the cedar or crack the infrared elements.
- Wipe all panels down with a dry microfibre cloth before storing. Do not use any moisture or cleaning products immediately before packing away.
- Store in a dry, climate-controlled space away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations as both can cause the cedar to warp or split over time.
- Do not store in garages or outdoor sheds where humidity, condensation, or temperature swings are common unless the space is well-insulated.
- Wrap the infrared panels loosely in breathable material. Avoid airtight plastic wrapping which can trap moisture against the wood.
- When reassembling after storage, power on and run an empty session for 20–30 minutes before use to bring the panels back to operating temperature and clear any residual moisture.
