SaunaPod Zipper IssuesUpdated 2 hours ago
The zipper is the most-used part of your SaunaPod, so it's also the most common thing to need attention. If yours is stiff, sticking, or has come off track, work through the steps below, and importantly, don't force it, as that's what turns a small issue into a bigger one.
If the zipper is stiff or sticking
Work through these in order:
- Slow down. Open and close the zipper slowly and smoothly. Rushing is the most common cause of problems and forcing a stiff zipper is what takes it off track.
- Check for caught fabric. If you feel resistance, stop and look for fabric caught in the teeth before continuing. Never pull harder against resistance.
- Clean the teeth. Lint, dust, and debris cause stiffness over time. Wipe the teeth with a dry cloth.
- Lubricate. Apply a small amount of zipper lubricant or a beeswax-based product to the teeth to restore smooth movement. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can damage the fabric.
If the zipper has come off track
- Do not continue to force it.
- Forcing a derailed zipper can damage the teeth or the fabric and make it harder to recover.
- Stop where you are and contact our support team we can troubleshoot it with you and get it back on track safely.
Why zippers stick (and how to prevent it)
Most zipper problems come from a few avoidable habits. Looking after it keeps it smooth for the life of the pod:
- Always air the pod out fully before zipping it closed after a steam session. Closing the zipper while the fabric is damp or hot causes stiffness over time.
- Store the pod with the zipper partially open, not fully closed as this reduces tension on the teeth.
- Keep the teeth clean and lubricate occasionally as part of routine care.
