Setting Up Your Acrylic ChillerUpdated 2 days ago

Designed to bring mid-range power and faster cooling than the X2 to a fixed installation setup.

Before doing anything else, read the 24-hour rule below it's easy to miss, and skipping it can cause damage and affect your warranty.

Before you begin

⚠️ The 24-hour rule

After delivery, leave the unit upright for 24 hours before powering it on. This lets the refrigeration oil settle after transport and is critical for the unit to operate correctly. Powering on too early can cause damage and may affect warranty eligibility.

Placement requirements:

  • Surface — flat, level, and stable, with at least 30 cm clearance on all sides for airflow. Do not install in an enclosed space, cupboard, or against a wall without adequate airflow.
  • Power — confirm your supply matches the chiller's voltage requirements (AU/NZ: 240V | US: 120V). Use a properly rated dedicated outlet do not use long extension cords.
  • App — download the Tuya Smart app before setup if you want WiFi control. See Connect Your Tuya App for pairing instructions.
  • Pro only — confirm the top filter cup is correctly installed before connecting hoses. Do not run the Pro without the filter cup in place.
  • Compatibility — designed to pair with the Acrylic Tub, but also compatible with other tub models.

Step-by-step setup

Step 1 — Connect to your tub

  1. Attach the inlet hose to the inlet fitting on your tub. For the Acrylic Tub, the fittings are located at the base.
  2. Attach the outlet hose to the outlet fitting.
  3. Confirm all connections are firm and hoses run freely without kinking between the chiller and tub.

Step 2 — Fill your tub

Fill your tub before switching the chiller on. The water level must fully cover the inlet fitting. Running the pump dry will cause damage to the unit.

Step 3 — Power on and set temperature

  1. Switch on at the wall.
  2. Set your target temperature on the control panel or via the Tuya app.
  3. Allow 4–6 hours for the water to reach your target temperature, depending on water volume and ambient room temperature.

Maintenance

  • Internal mesh filter — remove and rinse weekly. No replacement needed.
  • External 20-micron cartridge filter — replace every 2–3 weeks.
  • Pro top filter cup — check and clean regularly. A blocked filter cup is the most common cause of E2 errors on the Pro model.

Good to know

Control panel settings:

  • P1 — Temperature hysteresis (default 2°C)
  • P2 — Compressor start-up delay (default 3 minutes)
  • P3 — Display toggle between °C and °F

The 100 cm clearance isn't optional on this unit. It runs hotter than the rest of the range, and tight placement will hurt cooling performance and the lifespan of the compressor.

Connecting to WiFi

The Acrylic Chiller uses the Tuya Smart app on a 2.4 GHz network only — 5 GHz will not work.

  1. Power the unit on.
  2. Press and hold the WiFi key for 6–10 seconds until the WiFi icon blinks on the panel.
  3. Open the TUYA Smart app, select Add Device, and follow the on-screen steps.
  4. Enter your 2.4 GHz network name and password when prompted.
  5. A green check in the app confirms pairing is complete.

If pairing fails, move the router closer, reboot both the router and the chiller, and try again. For full troubleshooting, see Connect Your Tuya App.

Safety

  • Never operate the chiller while anyone is in the water. Always power the unit off before a session.
  • If you smell burning or see water near electrical components, unplug immediately and contact support. Do not attempt to use or repair the unit.
  • If your RCD/GFCI trips repeatedly, do not keep resetting it. Contact a qualified electrician.
