Tuya App Won't ConnectUpdated 31 minutes ago
If your chiller won't pair with the Tuya Smart app, you're not alone. Wi-Fi pairing is fiddly, and it's almost always one of a handful of causes. Work through the checks below in order; the first one fixes it most of the time.
The number one cause: 5 GHz Wi-Fi
Your chiller only connects to 2.4 GHz networks it can't use 5 GHz. Most modern routers broadcast both bands, often under the same network name, so your phone may have quietly joined the 5 GHz band without you realising. This is the single most common reason pairing fails.
The fix: temporarily disable the 5 GHz band in your router settings while you pair, then switch it back on once the chiller is connected. If you're not sure how, your internet provider can talk you through it.
Quick checks (work through these in order)
- Confirm you're on 2.4 GHz (see above) start here, it's the most likely culprit.
- Move everything closer together. Your phone, the chiller, and the router should all be within a few metres during pairing. Distance and walls weaken the signal at exactly the wrong moment.
- Check the chiller is in pairing mode. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the indicator light blinks rapidly around twice a second. If it's blinking slowly or not at all, it isn't ready to pair.
- Double-check your Wi-Fi password, and make sure your network isn't set to hidden mode the chiller can't find a hidden network.
- Restart and retry. Power the chiller off for 30 seconds, switch it back on, put it into pairing mode again, and restart the process in the app.
Step-by-step diagnosis (if the quick checks didn't work)
If you've confirmed 2.4 GHz, everything's close, the light's blinking fast, and it still won't pair:
- Reset the chiller into pairing mode cleanly. If your unit has a Wi-Fi button, hold it until the light blinks rapidly. If it doesn't have a dedicated button, hold the power button for around 5 seconds to reset it into pairing mode.
- Re-add the device in the app. Open Tuya Smart, tap the + in the top-right, select your product type, and follow the on-screen steps.
- Re-enter your 2.4 GHz network and password when prompted, and wait for the green check that confirms pairing.
- Check router security settings. The chiller needs encryption set to WPA2-PSK with AES, or both set to automatic. Routers locked to "11n only" mode can also block the connection. If you've tried everything else, these settings are worth a look — or check with your internet provider.
When to contact us
If you've worked through all of the above and pairing still fails, contact support with your order number, model, and a quick note on which steps you've already tried. Worth knowing: the chiller works fully from its own control panel. The app is for remote control and scheduling, so you can still use your chiller normally while we sort the connection.
