Chiller Error CodesUpdated 2 minutes ago
If your chiller shows a code or alarm on the display, this guide tells you what it means and what to do first. Find your code below, try the quick action, and follow the link for full troubleshooting where available. Most genuine faults shut the unit down to protect it.
After resolving the cause, a power-off reset is required switch off at the wall, wait, and power back on.
Start here: Is it actually an error?
Not every message is a fault. If you see C1 followed by a version number (like U1.4) and the unit shuts off, that's a normal response to the power being interrupted and not an error. Just press the power button again and it'll start normally. See Chiller Isn't Powering On (C1) for the full explanation.
Ultra X2 & Acrylic chillers (coded display)
| Display | What it means | First action | Full guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| C1 | Power-interruption | Press the power button to start the unit. | Here |
| E1 | Water temperature sensor fault | Power off and reset. If it returns, the sensor needs reseating or replacing contact support. | — |
| E2 | Water flow fault | Check water level and filters first. This is almost always a flow blockage. | Here |
| LLL | Low water temperature alarm | Water is below 32°F (0°C). Raise the set temperature and let the water warm above freezing. | — |
| HHH | High water temperature alarm | Water is above 131°F (55°C). Lower the set temperature. | — |
Ultra Max & Ultra Ice chillers (named alarms)
| Alarm | What it means | First action | Full guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water flow malfunction | Insufficient or no water flow detected | Check water level and clean the filter this is the most common cause. | Here |
| Low water temperature alarm | Water below 32°F (0°C) | Ensure water is above freezing; raise the set temperature. | — |
| High water temperature alarm | Water above the safe limit | Lower the set temperature. | — |
| Sensor fault (T1–T6, P1, P2) | A temperature or pressure sensor has faulted | Power off and reset. If it returns, the sensor needs reseating or replacing contact support. | See sensor reference |
| Low ambient temperature warning | Surrounding air is below 41°F (5°C) too cold for normal operation | Move the unit somewhere warmer, or see cold-weather guidance. | — |
Ultra Max and Ultra Ice units report sensor faults by specific probe (T1 inlet water, T2 ambient, T3 defrost, T4 outlet water, T5 post-valve, T6 fin, P1 low pressure, P2 high pressure). For advanced users, the full per-sensor breakdown is available in the Sensor Fault on Your Chiller.
What to do with any alarm
- Note the code or alarm name exactly as shown.
- Try the first action in the table above.
- Power off and reset switch off at the wall, wait 30 seconds, power back on.
- If the alarm returns, it points to a fault that needs support don't keep resetting repeatedly.
When to contact us
Reach out to customer support if:

- A pressure alarm (P1 low / P2 high) appears these relate to the refrigerant system and need technical support.
- An alarm keeps recurring after you've cleared the obvious cause.
